Lately, there's been plenty of buzz about American Widow by Alissa Torres and Sungyoon Choi. (Fully Booked just started carrying it.)

Are you familiar with it? If so, any first impressions?

Does a memoir have to be 100% true to be called a "memoir", even in graphic format?

For example, is Jessica Abel's La Perdida, which is undeniably influenced by her experiences in Mexico City, a memoir (despite the fact that a huge chunk of the people and relationships depicted are quite obviously fictional)?

Or does it fail to qualify as "memoir", in the same way that James Frey's books are not quite autobiography?

i know. it's problematic. same reason i didn't include michael rabagliati's "paul moves out". "semi-fictitious"? "thinly veiled autobiography"? i don't have an answer.
